The first song from Hazards of Love is out. I have to say I really like the song. "The Rake's Song" is much heavier than the normal Decemberists fare. If this the direction their rock opera is going, I can see why their single series didn't quite fit in. Click here to get the MP3 from Decemberists.com. The album is out 3/24.

I got it this morning too--after a long wait to get through their website. I can see how this style combined with Colin Meloy's writing could work.
